About
Hi, I’m Sharla Fanous—author, poet, and writing guide.
Writing has always been more than words on a page for me; it’s been a lifeline. I started writing in seasons of uncertainty, heartbreak, and transition, never sure if I was “qualified” enough to call myself a writer. What changed everything was stepping into a writing community. Surrounded by people who understood the pull of stories and the power of expression, I found courage, inspiration, and the accountability to keep showing up. That simple act of belonging helped me grow into the writer (and author) I am today.
Since then, I’ve published multiple books of poetry and prose. Each one began as a quiet ritual: a moment of stillness with pen in hand, a way to process my thoughts, and a practice that grew into something bigger than me. Publishing wasn’t just about putting books into the world. it was about proving to myself that my words mattered, and so did I.
Now, it’s my passion to help others discover that same freedom. Whether you’re picking up a pen for the first time, longing to create a writing ritual you’ll actually look forward to, or dreaming of holding your own published book, I want to walk alongside you. I believe writing is a practice that anyone can cultivate, not just professional authors or people with degrees, but everyday people with a desire to create, reflect, and leave a mark.
Here, you’ll find prompts, structure, encouragement, and practical tools for self-publishing when you’re ready to share your work with the world. But most importantly, you’ll find a place to belong, a space to return to the page freely, deeply, and wholeheartedly.
Because writing is more than a hobby. It’s a ritual. It’s a journey. And it just might change your life the way it changed mine.
Let Writing Be Your Ritual.
Credentials + Background
I’ve always believed that the best way to teach writing is to live it. Along the way, I’ve published several books of poetry and prose; each one born from the same ritual I now share with others.
Where I belong: My Journey from Little Girl Lost to Found (2021)
Unbroken Pieces: A Collection of Poems (2022)
Cocoon (releasing December 2025)
Bloom (releasing February 2026)
Burn (releasing April 2026)
Return (releasing June 2026)
Each book represents a season of my own journey: from heartbreak to healing, from quiet beginnings to bold expression. Sharing them with the world has been both humbling and life-changing, and it’s proof that you don’t need permission to call yourself a writer. You only need to begin.
What I Believe
I believe writing is:
A ritual that grounds you in the present.
A hobby that brings joy, peace, and clarity.
A journey that anyone can take, no matter where you start.
A legacy—because every word you write leaves a mark.
Writing isn’t reserved for professionals, academics, or people with perfect stories. It belongs to you. It belongs to all of us.

A Little More About Me
Outside of writing, I’m a lover of cozy rituals: strong coffee in the morning, stretching and folding sourdough, music that sets the mood for creativity, and autumn walks that remind me to slow down. I’m also a parent, a reader of memoirs, fiction, and poetry, and someone who finds joy in creating home spaces that feel calm and intentional—even while being surrounded by cats, kids, and chaos.
Like many writers, I live in the balance between order and unpredictability, finding beauty in both. And just like you, I’m always learning, creating, and returning to the page with fresh eyes.
